FOIL Requests

The New York Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) gives the public a right to request access to existing Town records, subject to exemptions in law.

Submit a request

Direct FOIL requests to the Town Clerk’s Office. Requests may be sent by email or delivered by mail or in person.

Email: clerk@townoftully.us
Mail or in person: Town Clerk, Town of Tully, 5833 Meetinghouse Road, Tully, NY 13159
Phone for assistance: (315) 696-4693 ext. 10

What to include

  • Your name and preferred contact information.
  • A clear description of the records requested, including relevant dates, names, addresses, or project numbers.
  • Whether you prefer electronic copies, paper copies, or an appointment to inspect records.

What happens next

The Town will respond within five business days by granting the request, denying it in writing, or acknowledging receipt and providing an approximate date for a further response. Fees permitted by law may apply for copies or other reproduction costs; the Town will provide notice before charging a fee.

If access is denied, the written response will explain the reason and how to appeal. FOIL applies to existing records and does not require the Town to create a new record or answer questions that are not requests for records.
